Ethiopia’s Growing Film Industry
Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008 7:08 pm by jelewis8This article about the burgeoning Ethiopian film industry has particular significance to 13 Months of Sunshine, as it was the first Ethiopian film to play in the new Edna Mall Complex, and is comparable to the other Ethiopian film stats mentioned. The ongoing challenge for Ethiopian filmmakers continues to be the harsh taxes imposed upon productions by governmental agencies and the lack of structured rules for showing independent cinema. Hopefully as the industry grows, we’ll see more positive change in favor of the filmmakers.
